A perfect combination of eloquence, humor and erudition characterized the recent delivery of ESUT 22nd inaugural lecture by Prof. Augustine UChe Nweze of the Accountancy department ESUT. Entilted "Accounting, a universal business language" the lecture drew personages and crowd from different professional background including the visitor of ESUT and Governor Enugu State, His Excellency Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi. A fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and fellow, chartered Institute of Taxation Nigeria, Nweze traced the origin of accountancy to the Biblical record in the book of Genesis Chapter 41:40-41 where Pharoh held Joseph accountable to his people. Quoting profusely from the bible and other authoritative sources, he stressed that accounting cut across other professions as it is the language which expresses and or interprets the success, failure or standing of every organization.

According to him, "Debtors Creditors, Researchers Investors, Bankers, Educational and other Business Organizations use this language to have true or fair view of their business."

He however noted that there are regulations including the international financial reporting standard (IFRS) which ensure that objectivity and ethical conduct reign supreme in this important public service.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Chairman of the day, Prof. Luke Anike (Vice Chancellor) commended Prof. Nweze for the rich and eloquent presentation. He said Inaugural lecture. was an ambassadorial mission during which the lecturer x-rays to the world his academic contribution that warranted his professorship. He thanked the visitor for granting the occasion and wished him huge success in office.

Professor Agu Gab Agu read an intimidating citation on the lecturer encapsulating all the high points in Prof. Nweze's Career including the successful supervision of 20. Ph.D Students

Aside the Governor and his entourage, other dignitaries that graced the occasion included Justice Chima Nweze and his worship Magistrate U. Nweze Principal and Key officers of ESUT, former principal officers, professional colleagues and a delegation from accountancy department of Anatech amongst others.
