The College of Medicine, Enugu State University of Science and Technology pioneer ideas with broad impact on health and Basic Medical Sciences. The currently two broad of faculty classification directs the research targets of the college.

The faculties in the college have contributed to some of the important scientific discoveries, advancements and corpus of knowledge. Currently the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences in conjunction with Engineering is pioneering research direction in biological engineering specifically in biomechanics and podiatry.

The College of Medicine supports faculty research through dedicated offices and resources in the Medical Research Centre overseen by a Director. Presently the faculties have several research projects from such organizations as Tertiary Education Fund (TETFund), Greenlife Foundation (GF) etc.

The postgraduate programmes (M.Sc, PhD) in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences and the postgraduate fellowship programmes in Clinical Medicine Faculty ensure copious manpower and resources for several research lines.

Mention must be made about student research. In ESUCOM, we hold strongly to the dictum that big ideas are generated from fresh viewpoints. In this regard, the College encourages students research through effective supervision by faculty staff and attraction of grants/scholarships for deserving students. This is properly coordinated through the College Research Committee which is an affiliate of the Senate Research Committee of the University.
